04/06/14 – Brazil’s pig iron exports drop in April


According to statistics, Brazil’s pig iron exports totaled 256,000 tonnes in April, dropping by 6.7% YoY and increasing by 2.3% from a month ago.

In April, the US was the largest importer of the Brazilian pig iron with 184,000 tonnes; the Netherlands was the second largest one with 31,000 tonnes up by 3.5% and Mexico was the third largest one with 30,000 tonnes decreasing by 10.1%, all compared to the figures in the same month of 2012.

During the first four months of this year, the country’s pig iron exports totaled 777,000 tonnes down by 29.4% compared to the same period of last year. It is estimated the exports will hit 2.33 million tonnes this year.
